Brief Background
Originally from Northeastern India; in particular, the state of Manipur, the district of Churachandpur, and the town of Lamka. Suan belongs to an indigenous tribal community living in India and Myanmar called the ‘Zomi’.
His father came to the United States in 2000 to pursue an MDiv at Central Baptist Theological Seminary, and in 2001, his mother, sister, and Suan were able to join him thanks to the assistance of the American Baptists. Having been interested in theology from a young age, Suan soon went on a journey of search for the Truth and found his way to Catholicism. To find out more about his story, watch his full interview with Matt Fradd on Pints with Aquinas: From Baptist Leftist to Conservative Catholic (Suan Sonna).

Discernment with the Order of Preachers
Suan studied philosophy at Kansas State University and shortly after graduation, he entered the Dominican Order also known as the Order of Preachers. He entered the Dominican novitiate and did not make permanent vows. However, he began to notice how much he enjoyed Sacred Scripture and Theology classes, and how much he missed being on a university campus.

The right-side up cross represents, of course, the cross of Christ and the upside down cross represents Saint Peter. The two golden keys are the keys of Saint Peter and the large key down the middle represents Eliakim of Isaiah 22:22. The two does or deer at the top of the middle key are from the seal of the historical Eliakim himself!
Once again, we warmly welcome Suan Sonna to the Totus Tuus Apostolate!
